How can I get a visa for Thailand and Indochina?

Thais tourist visa are exemption for 41 countries and valid for 30 days. Please check our Thailand Travel Tips page. Cambodian visa can be obtained on arrival at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap International Airports. The visa fee is USD20. Please take 2 passport sized photos for your visa application. Visas are also available at border crossing on Thailand, Vietnam and Laos border points. Travelers can also apply for Cambodian online. Vietnam visa are also exemptions for most Asean countries, Korea, Japan & Scandinavians (2005). All other citizens are required to get an entry visa before departure or a pre-approved entry visa (visa is issued on arrival at Vietnam’s International Airports) supplied before arrival in Vietnam. Please contact Vietnam embassy or consulate office in your country. We can also help to arrange Vietnam visa when you are traveling with us in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia and you wish to extend or combine the trip to Vietnam. We normally need 2 to 5 working days to get your Vietnamese visa issued and the price is vary. Laos visa can also be obtained on arrival at the airport and most border crossing points except the border with Cambodia. Passport's holders of all nationalities are required to apply for Laos tourist visa except Japan and ASEAN countries. Visa cost ranges from $20 (China) to $42 (Canada).  Sweden is $31, $35 for the USA, UK and most of Europe, $40 for India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka and $30 for Australia and other countries. How much are the airport taxes?

Cambodia international airport tax is USD25 and USD6 for domestic airport tax. The airport taxes have to be paid in cash at the airport. Travelers who exit Cambodia by land border, do not require to pay for any departure tax. Thailand international airport tax has increased from 500 to 700 Thais Baht starting from February 2007. Thailand domestic airport tax is 40 Baht. Vietnam International Airport tax is:   US$14  per adult and US$ 7 per child. Domestic flights: US$2.5 per adult at Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City airports. Laos international aiport tax is: USD 10 and domestic flights is Kip 5,000. The airport tax is free of charge for children under 12 years old and transit passengers proceeding to onward destination within the same day and not leaving the transit lounge.

How many people can you start the trip?

What type of accommodation do you provide on the trips?
We normally provide 3* stars accommodation. In some towns we upgrade to 4* stars hotels without extra charge depends on room availabilities. In Rayong (Thailand) we upgrade to Lom Talay Resort  www.lomtalaychalet.com, in Siem Reap (Cambodia), we upgrade to Tara Angkor Hotel www.taraangkorhotel.com, and Ninh Kieu 2 (4* stars hotel) in Can Tho (Vietnam).
We can also arrange 5* stars hotel for some people who are looking for luxury accommodation and 2* stars hotel for some people who are looking for lower budget accommodation. However, in some less traveled towns, there are only guesthouses with simple room just aircon and hot water as there are no better choice than this. In a national park where there is no hotel or guesthouse, we accommodate people just 1 night at home-stay, to experience rural area at its most authentic.

How do you accommodate people on the trip?
We accommodate 2 people at the same sex in Twin sharing room especially if their ages are not much different. We accommodate couple in Double sharing room. If a single person joins the trip and wish to stay in Single room, then s/he has to pay Single room supplement.

Are there internet access to all the places we travel to?
In the fast developing information technology, there are internet access in most of the places in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. There might be no internet access when staying at home-stay. But this happens only for a few trips and just for 1 night. Internet access won't be away from internet access longer than 48 hours.

Normally, people on our trips are from USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia. What type of bikes do you use? Can we bring our own bike?

We use brand new Trek 4300-4500 and Giants. Trek is durable and suitable all kinds of road, especially in Cambodia. You can bring your own bike and it costs around USD150 to ship your bike to Thailand and Indochina.

Is it safe now to do trekking in Cambodia?

It is safe now to do trekking in Cambodia following our suggested itinerary. We have done the research on the trekking track. With our experienced trekking guide, we will assure the security and follow the safety guideline.

Travel Insurance

We recommend that all tourists travel to Thailand and Indochina should purchase travel insurance including evacuation. The good clinic to recommend in Siem Reap are Angkor International Hospital and Ly Sreyvyna. In Phnom Penh, SOS International clinic and Royal Rattanak Hospital. All our cycling guides are trained with first aid and we have first aid kit in the support van.

Do I need any vaccination before traveling to Thailand and Indochina?

Traveling to Cambodia, do not require any vaccination.  But we recommend travelers to take malaria tablet, Tamiflue for Swine and Birds flues. Tamiflue can purchase locally at USD32 per packet of 10 tablets.

What is the weather like in Thailand and Indochina?

Essentially Thailand and Indochina have four seasons. November to February is cool and dry. March to May is hot and dry. June to August is hot and wet. September to October is cool and wet. The months of November, December and January are usually considered the best for tourists with lower temperatures and reduced humidity levels. April is generally the hottest month. The monsoons during June and October usually follow a pattern of clear mornings with a period of rain in the late afternoons. Normally the rain lasts for just 1-2 hours. So it still a good period of cycling. We recommend to start early around 07h00 and finish before it rains as our average cycling is around 70km a day.

How should I dress in Thailand and Indochina?

Thailand and Indochina experiences a tropical climate almost year round so lightweight clothing is best. In the cooler months warmer clothing may be required, especially during the evenings and in mountainous areas. Tourists should remember to dress modestly and remove their footwear and hat when entering places of religious significance such as Buddhist temple. Indochina are still a conservative countryies in some area we recommend to have dress below knee such as Royal Palace. So, please bring some clothes in your bag-pack to cover the knees.
